Rep. Jim Jordan vows investigation of Fauci, COVID-19 origins if GOP retakes House

In an interview with “Sunday Morning Futures” this weekend, GOP Rep. Jim Jordan (OH) promised an investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and specifically Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Jordan has long been a vocal believer of the theory that Dr. Fauci, a world-renowned virologist, helped fund controversial gain-of-function research at a lab in Wuhan, leading to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Fauci has repeatedly denied the claims, and in a Senate hearing told the panel, “The NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

Still, Jordan, along with Republican Senator Ted Cruz (TX), Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and other GOP members of Congress, vow to investigate Fauci and his role in the alleged research funding. Jordan said in the interview this weekend, “If the American people put us back in charge, we are definitely going to do this,”

The threat of an investigation comes after Jordan and other GOP members released emails they say prove Fauci knew early on that COVID-19 had been engineered in a lab. To date, no concrete evidence has been made public that Dr. Fauci or anyone at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases know where or how COVID-19 originated.
